Spark

Jeremy spoke uncomfortably, "We were riding in this elevator last week when we swapped bodies. There was a spark or something that I saw in here; I'm convinced that's what did it."

"...And that's why you insist on us riding on the elevator up and down to the office together every day like this?" Asked Diane.

"Yes, maybe it will happen again, and we will swap back to our own bodies."

"It hasn't swapped us back yet. And, oh, yeah, my body is scheduled to start it's period tomorrow."

"I hate being a woman so much...so, so much."

Spells

At first, Brad was mad when Joyce swapped bodies with him. He hated being a woman; he hated being HER. But it only took a few days before he found the spellbook she had used to initiate the swap. Though it was clear that a person could never use the body swapping spell more than once, the book was filled with all sorts of magic. With what was in here, Brad could be quite rich and powerful. He couldn't believe that Joyce had been smart enough to use this book to steal his body, but dumb enough to not cast the thousand or so other spells in here, which would guarantee a great life.

Friendship

It wasn't long ago that Carl and Bruce were best friends, but their relationship had changed dramatically as a result of the Great Shift. They had both ended up swapping with women, and this put them on edge. It started with Bruce being a little jealous; Carl's body was taller, skinnier, blonder, and prettier. It didn't help that Carl felt the need to rub these facts in Bruce's face quite frequently. It came to a head one day when Carl let off a simple "hello" and Bruce gave a weak wave back. Carl was silent for a moment before responding, "Just because you now have the body of a fat bitch doesn't mean you have to be rude." Bruce responded violently. It wasn't long before the two were fighting on the floor. Clearly, their friendship was no more.

On the Other Foot

When Misty finally found Daniel, she didn't have the words to express her anger. It only made matters worse when Daniel stuck out his tongue and waved his hands before smiling, really rubbing it in Misty's face. This only made her madder.

Before she could get through her anger to find words to say, Daniel spoke calmly, "Guess the shoe's on the other foot now. Well, actually the shoe is on the same foot; it's just that I am the one in control of those feet...and the shoes...your whole body, actually. You always thought you were so cool; you thought you could look down on people like me. You never could've expected what I could do. You know, the whole swapping bodies thing. Now I AM you, and you are unfortunately me. And you're just going to have to get used to it, because I am never swapping back."

Human Resources

Emily reacted quickly when she heard shouting in the office from down the hall. As a relatively new hire in the HR department, she was sure she'd get a promotion quickly if she could show how well she could resolve conflicts. That's when she found Ben from sales and Joe from graphic design in a meeting room screaming at each other. Ben spoke first, explaining that he was actually Joe and that the two men had swapped bodies.

Emily looked at Ben and then over at Joe. She didn't have much to say, and they could both tell that she didn't believe them.

Ben, the real Ben, the one in Joe's body, spoke next. He explained about a strange tiki idol that he got on a sales trip to Hawaii had caused it, telling Emily that it turned out to actually be magic.

"Actually magic?" Emily asked, spying the tiki on a table nearby. "This thing?" She asked as she picked it up off a nearby table.

"No!" Joe screamed from Ben's body as he tried to grab it from her.

But it was too late. Before Emily could realize what was going on, she got caught up in the swapping too. She now found herself  in Ben's body while Joe found himself in her body. Ben was still in Joe's body. They each spent the next few minutes trying to exchange it between them, hoping to swap again to no avail.

Ben and Joe were about to start yelling again, but Emily urged them to quiet down. She didn't want an argument in the office, and she certainly didn't want her body to be seen as one of the ones arguing. She did manage to calm the situation, but she was at a loss for how to actually fix it!

Closing

When Jason found himself inside of Amy's body, he rushed as fast as he could back to his own house. He burst into his own room frantically, and then he froze. Amy didn't even notice him at the door; she was much too preoccupied with his body making love to his girlfriend. Jason stood there in shock for a moment before calmly closing the door. He realized swapping bodies with Amy wasn't some random event or an accident; it was intentional. It was all clear to him now. Amy wanted to be with his girlfriend, and now she had that. Now his only focus would be to figure out a way to swap back.

What He Wanted

Ronald didn't exactly lie to his wife about Exchange Island. He explained fully that when they landed, they'd be swapping bodies with another guest on the island. What he didn't mention was that he picked a time to visit at the height of Asian tourist season. He wasn't shocked at all to find himself in the body of a Japanese woman upon landing, but he knew he couldn't seem too excited in front of his wife. He pretended to be devastated about finding himself in a woman's body; he further pretending to shut down, asking for some time to himself. But when he was finally alone, he couldn't help but smile; this was exactly what he wanted.

No Regrets

As the years passed, a small community developed on Exchange Island. A few years later, and it became a large city. Moving there was a bit of a gamble; after all, you could never predict what sort of body you'd end up with for the rest of your life. Still, Adam didn't have a single regret about his decision to move there, especially once he landed and found the new body he'd have permanently. And while the bustle of Exchange Island City could be a bit much, he knew it wasn't hard for him to put on a skimpy bikini, drive five minutes, and relax on the beach.

Late

Angela Wang had been anticipating her husband coming home for a few hours now. He was usually done by 5PM, but now it was almost 8PM. She assumed he was working late to make a few extra bucks, but she was growing impatient and eventually stood outside to wait. When he finally arrived, she was a little annoyed but was also looking forward to the extra he'd be bringing home.

"Why did you work so late tonight without calling?" She asked him.

"I wasn't working late; I was just having some drinks with the guys." He shrugged.

Realizing her husband wasn't going to be bringing any extra money home this week, Angela got angry. She slapped him hard on the arm. "You should call," She demanded, "And that young woman's body isn't yours. How could you treat it like that by drinking that poison!"

"This body IS mine now. That's what the Great Shift did. I know it didn't affect you. I understand that; I get that. But I'm not going to change who I am just because I have a new body either! You never used to treat me like this back when I was a man. I could go out with my co-workers, have a few drinks, and stay out late without a second look from you. Now you're treating me more like a daughter than your husband. I know we never had kids, but I'm not some sort of replacement for something we never had!"

Stairs

Zach was actually feeling pretty good about stealing Paula's body so far. In the hour or so since swapping bodies with her, no one had noticed anything was amiss. They just treated him as they would normally treat Paula. He was pretty sure he had her mannerisms and movements down as well. He still had a lingering issue or two, like what to do with Paula in his body. Currently, she was tied up in a closet, but he couldn't keep her there forever. As he thought about it, he realized he hadn't quite prepared for everything about being Paula. While he practiced in high heels before swapping, he never had done so on stairs. The extra challenge was a bit too much for him, and he began to lose his footing as he walked down. He just hoped no one saw the otherwise graceful Paula fall flat on her face, and he further hoped that if they did, they wouldn't think too much about it...

Tapped

Ryan had been alone in the room since the start of the experiment. The room contained very little except a door with a slot, where food would be inserted, a bed, a toilet and sink, a video camera, and a television with a feed of what the camera saw. For the first few days, Ryan was simply bored out of his mind; on the fourth day, things got interesting. The experiment had certainly begun! The figure on the television was no longer him; it was a woman who mimicked his actions exactly. A quick inspection revealed that he was now that woman. He tapped on the camera to be sure, as he noted that the person on the television did the same. He wondered if they had somehow transformed him or if they had switched his mind with a woman in an identical room. This experiment would certainly be interesting.
